A substantial stone dwelling in the Merchiston area of Edinburgh, was KRA‘s next challenge with a small kitchen extension… to die for..?
KRA's was response to a brief for "an imaginative solution" to an otherwise omnipresent design type. Designs are now well progressed and have just hit site with Peter Moran Ltd; Contractors, who are to see the project through to reality.
Cutting edge design solution in a contemporary manner is again at the forefront of the solution and the stainless steel clad extension inserts into the existing kitchen space fusing the outside to in. The use of clerestory ribbon glazing above the stainless steel roof, bounces addition as daylight from the south facing aspect into the deeper kitchen space and the fine line glazing is focused into the direction of the garden and the children’s space.
Further overlapping occurs with the roof oversailing the external glazing that allows all windows to fold back and provide a seamless garden/house interface.
