Grade 'A' offices in the heart of the city

KRA were tasked to look at incorporating two previous planning consents, one for residential and the second for offices. The lower floors were to be offices, whilst the new roof/top floor would be a penthouse.

To avoid the need for flying stabilising scaffolding for the external walls, the new structure was inserted through the roof and founded on the ground floor walls. Existing floors were removed one by one after the new steel frame was inserted.

Both the Planning Department and Historic Scotland were keen to see the improvement and KRA worked exceptionally closely with them both.

To avoid the replacement of the facade KRA agreed a scheme to buff back the black linostone and replace certain details such that the building received the fully restored look.
