Redwood House, Edinburgh

Large 'B' listed house and dilapidated former stable block.

The building had been used by a higher education establishment and was in a dilapidated state in an overgrown site.

KRA created 4 apartments and 2 renovated stables along with 2 new stables. KRA again used the old/established styles in a modern and fluid way thus creating fit-for-purpose family houses in a woodland setting, while close to the centre of Edinburgh.

Materials choice was important and although the stone wall was incorporated, render for the new 'stable block' was employed along with copper for the dormer roofs and checks. Green glass was used for all roof lights transferring natural light and sunshine indoors.
